Near-Ultraviolet Light-Driven Photocatalytic Chlorine Activation Process with Novel Chlorine Activation Mechanisms

چکیده
In this study, the near-ultraviolet (near-UV) light-driven TiO2 photocatalytic chlorine activation process, termed as UV365/TiO2/chlorine degrades a representative recalcitrant micropollutant, carbamazepine (CBZ), at an apparent first-order rate constant (kCBZ?) that is 34.2 and 3.9 times higher than those without chlorine, respectively. serves more important role catalyst to enhance yield of hydroxyl radicals (HO·) being consumed, in addition its radical precursor produce HO· reactive species. kCBZ? increased with increasing dosages from 1.0 20.0 mg/L light intensities 0.1 0.33 mW/cm2 decreasing 5.0 mgCl2/L. Increasing pH overall concentrations but transformed Cl· less ClO·, leading 6.0 9.0. The dual roles process enabled rapid CBZ degradation dosage about 1/20 conventional UVC/chlorine 1/200 UVC/TiO2 electrical energy per order least 2-order magnitude lower existing UVC-based processes.

Veterinary antibiotics are widely used at concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) to prevent disease and promote growth of livestock. However, the majority of antibiotics are excreted from animals in urine, feces, and manure. Consequently, the lagoons used to store these wastes can act as reservoirs of antibiotics and antibiotic-resistant bacteria. There is currently no regulation or con...

The photolysis of chlorine peroxide (ClOOCl) is understood to be a key step in the destruction of polar stratospheric ozone. This study generated and purified ClOOCl in a novel fashion, which resulted in spectra with low impurity levels and high peak absorbances. The ClOOCl was generated by laser photolysis of Cl2 in the presence of ozone, or by photolysis of ozone in the presence of CF2Cl2. Th...

We examine the effect of nanometer-sized aircraft-induced aqueous sulfuric acid (H2SO4/H2O) particles on atmospheric ozone as a function of temperature. Our calculations are based on a previously derived parameterization for the regional-scale perturbations of the sulfate surface area density due to air traffic in the North Atlantic Flight Corridor (NAFC) and a chemical box model. We confirm la...
